Nextkassel brought the co-creation model of Nexthamburg to Kassel, the regional capital of Northern Hesse.

Nextkassel was established in 2013 as a student project of the Kassel University students – 25 young planners, architects and landscape architects. Curated by Julian Petrin, the founder of Nexthamburg and a visiting professor at the Kassel University, they created a platform that became the major space for urban dialogue in Kassel and found support from the city.

In 2014 Nextkassel shaped ideas into the Citizens' Vision and will now focus on bringing the citizens' ideas into reality: two further student groups will be working, firstly, on settling Stadtmacher down in Kassel, and secondly, realisation of the “Bike Masterplan” developed from one of the citizens' scenarios.
