With Nextistanbul, the concept of crowdsourcing the urban future is brought to the vibrant metropolis, bridging Europe and Asia.
Nextistanbul originated in July 2013 as a reaction to the wave of protests exploded around the Gezi Park. With a mission of integrating the people's knowledge, needs and wishes into processes of urban development in Turkey, it crowdsources the citizens' ideas online and offline, organises knowledge and practice exchanges between citizens, city officials, activists, students, urban development experts and other actors, and searches for sustainable ways to plug the public participation into the Istanbul urban development agenda.
